Clore Garden of Science

Weizmann Institute of Science · Rehovot, Israel · 2024

About the Project

The renewed Clore Garden of Science is an 18,000 m² outdoor interactive and immersive science museum, bringing together science, architecture, landscape, art and play within a series of distinct thematic environments.

I was specifically recruited to join Fast Music Interactive for the project, working closely with Elad Cohen as part of the core design team led and curated by Amir Schorr.

My role extended across the architectural and spatial design of the museum, exhibit design, geometry development and the design of several major physical installations. Together we developed the relationship between the exhibits, circulation, architecture and visitor experience, translating scientific ideas into physical environments that could be entered, touched, climbed and explored.

The garden is organized as a sequence of thematic complexes, each with its own spatial character, materials and visual language. Landscape architecture by Zur Wolf integrates these environments into a larger continuous experience, with water running through the garden as a recurring element connecting the different scientific worlds.

One of my principal contributions was the Human sculpture. a monumental 12-meter-high, 30 tons steel wireframe figure conceived as both an architectural structure and an interactive exhibit. Visitors can enter and climb through the body, turning anatomy into a spatial experience at the scale of architecture.

Alongside the Human Body, I designed and developed a number of additional exhibits, large installations and contributed to the broader layout and physical language of the garden.

The project was developed through close collaboration between designers, architects, landscape architects, scientists, programmers, engineers, fabricators and educators, creating a museum where exhibition, landscape and architecture operate as one continuous experience.
